How To Pass Your Driving Test First Time?'s tips on How To Pass Your Driving Test First Time?

Are you looking for tips on how to pass the UK driving test on your first attempt?

Passing your driving test is an exciting venture and life-changing experience, but it is also a big responsibility. Taking the driving test can be nerve-wracking for many, but there are ways you can prepare that will help you learn how to pass the driving test first time.

Here are some helpful tips for UK Driving Tests that will make passing your driving test much easier.

Tip #1 - Know the test routes: Before you schedule your driving test, get lots of practice and do a few practical Mock Driving Tests on test routes. Use that learner’s permit of yours to the full. Our Approved Driving Instructors recommend practising as much as possible in the vehicle that you will take to your actual test. Each car drives a little differently and so it is good to get comfortable in the car you will be using.

Tip #2 - Make sure you have taken enough lessons: How many lessons does it take to pass your driving test? A large part of that is up to you. The DVSA recommends around 40 hours of lessons and 25 hours of practice. We recommend taking lessons until you feel confident with all of the basic manoeuvers on the curriculum.

Tip #2 - Check your car's fitness: If you are taking the driving test in your own car, your car will be inspected to make sure that it meets the required standards prior to starting the test. Give the vehicle that you will be taking to the test site a pre-test inspection. Make sure that the lights work on the vehicle (headlights, brake lights, blinkers, etc) or you will automatically fail. If you are taking the test in an ADI's car, they would not mind you asking if they have checked the car for the same.

Tip #3 - Know your car's controls: Make sure that you understand the controls of the vehicle that you take to the test. Make sure that you don’t adjust or move your mirrors during the test. Our Approved Driving Instructors also say that it is always easiest to pass your test in an automatic. If you plan on driving a manual, you will need to take a test in the manual. Also, make sure that you understand where the basic buttons are in the car and how to use them. If you want to pass the driving test first time, you need to know the car first.

Tip #4 - Practice just before the test: Do a little review and take practice driving run before the test. Adjust your mirrors so that you can easily see various road hazards. During the test the examiner will be watching to see if you use your mirrors properly, so make sure that you are ready. Then, be easy on yourself. Make sure you eat well and go to bed at a decent hour so you can get a good night’s sleep.

Tip #5 - Arrive early: Plan on getting to the test early. This will help you to have time to relax and prepare mentally before you actually have to take the test. Gather up your test paperwork and put it all together by the front door. At the very least you will need your permit and proof of registration and insurance for your vehicle if you are using your own vehicle. If you are using  your instructor's vehicle, you will still need your permit. Additional paperwork may be needed. Make sure that it is ready to go and in a place that you won’t forget it.

Last but not the least, wear your seatbelt. Put it on as soon as you get in the car before you start driving. Good luck!
